Well, all professional designs such as marketing campaigns, presentations, flyers etc, have one thing in common. And that is symmetry!

Properly proportionate and symmetrical designs not only help to capture the viewer’s attention but also helps to give the design a more defined and perfect look.

But the question is how to align in Canva?

Well don’t worry, in this article, I will show you how to align texts, elements and images in Canva.

If you don’t like reading, then I will also be attaching screenshots of all the steps that you can follow along.

Follow the below steps to learn how to align text in Canva:

1. Sign Up Or Log In On Canva

Search for the Canva website.

And then click on the ‘Log In’ button from the top right corner of the screen, if you have an existing account on Canva.

Click on the ‘Sign Up’ button from the top right corner of the screen, if you have never used Canva before.

After following the above step, you will be directed to the Canva homepage.

2. Open Recent Design

On the Canva dashboard, you will see a ‘Recent Design’ section. This section shows thumbnails of the designs that you’ve worked on in the past.

Click on the recent design whose text you want to align and it will open on a new page with a left sidebar.

3. Align Your Text

Once your recent design opens with a left sidebar, you can then start aligning your text on Canva.

But before aligning the text, you have to select the text that you want to align.

For selecting the text on Canva, while pressing the ‘Shift’ key on your keyboard keep clicking on the text elements that you want to align to add it to your selection.

And a boundary box will appear around it, indicating that it is selected.

Click on the ‘Alignment’ button from the top toolbar to change the alignment of your text.

However, there are four alignment options (left-align, center-align, right-align, and justify) available on Canva.

Keep clicking on the ‘Alignment’ button to get access to various alignment options.

The other way to align text in Canva is to click on the ‘Position’ button from the top toolbar.

As a result of which a new menu will appear on the left side with various arrangement options.

You can then click on any alignment option of your liking such as top, bottom, center, etc to change the alignment of your text box.

Note: This method will align your entire textbox not the actual content written inside.

Now you will see a properly aligned text on your design.

4. Save Your Design

Once you get satisfied with the alignment of the text, you can then proceed to save the design to your computer.

Click on the ‘Share’ button from the top right corner of the screen and a new menu will open with various sharing options.

Click on the ‘Download’ button to further open download settings.

Set your file type to PNG and then click on the ‘Download’ button again.

How To Align Elements In Canva    

To know how to align elements in Canva, firstly we have to open a design type.

That can be done either by choosing a design from the ‘Recent Design’ section on the Canva homepage.

Or if you want to create a design first and then align its elements, then you have to click on the ‘Create a Design’ button from the top right corner of the Canva homepage to start a design from scratch.

Note: for this tutorial, I will be choosing a recent design from my Canva homepage.

After opening up one of the recent designs, select the elements that you want to align. The element can be anything from a sticker to a graphic or from a shape to a frame etc.

To select multiple elements, while pressing the left button of the mouse, drag the cursor over the elements that you want to align.

As a result of which a boundary box will appear around it, indicating that it is selected.

Now click on the ‘3 Dot’ icon or ‘More’ button from the options that appeared in front of you or you can also right click to open a new menu.

From the new menu, click on the ‘Align Elements’ button to open further alignment types such as top, bottom, middle, etc.
Click on the align type that you like the most to change the alignment of the selected elements.

Now the alignment of the elements will get changed in your design.

FAQ- How To Align In Canva

Although, Aligning different text and elements in Canva is quite straightforward. However, there may be some questions about this process which we’ve answered below:

What Is The Shortcut To Align Elements In Canva?

If you don’t want to align elements using the alignment feature available in Canva then you can also use shortcuts.

If you want to align the elements to the left side: Ctrl + Shift + L.
If you want to align the elements to the right side: Ctrl + Shift + R.
If you want to align the elements to the center:Cctrl + Shift + C.

How Do You Justify In Canva?

Justify is a type of alignment where the spaces are added between the texts so that both edges of the text element align within the margin. To justify in Canva, first, select your desired text or element.

And then click on the ‘Alignment’ button from the top toolbar again and again till the text or the elements of your design get justify.
