Follow the steps below to learn how to use two different texts to make a wavy sentence:

1. Open Canva

To get started with the process, the first step is to visit the Canva website.

There you will see the ‘Log In’ and ‘Sign Up’ buttons at the top right corner of the screen.

Click on the ‘Log In’ button, if you already have a Canva account, or click on the ‘Sign Up’ button, if you want to create a new one.

2. Create a Design

Once you’re logged in or signed up, you’ll be directed to the Canva homepage.

On the top right corner of the page, you’ll see a ‘Create a Design’ button. Click on that button to start a new design.

A new menu showing various design types including email signatures, presentations, posters, and more will appear in front of you.

Either use the top search bar to search for a specific design type or scroll through the available options.

Once you find a design type that you want to use, click on it. As a result of which a blank canvas with the left sidebar will appear in front of you.

3. Add Text Boxes

After being directed to the blank canvas, click on the ‘Text’ button from the left sidebar.

And then choose the style of text that you want to add to your design, such as ‘Heading’, ‘Subheading’, or ‘Body Text’.

Click on the text style that meets your requirement and then start typing your desired text in the text box.

add two text elements

Note: We need two text boxes on the canvas for making wavy text in Canva. So, follow the same procedure to add another text element to the design.

Just ensure that both text elements are created using the same style.

For example, if you used a ‘Subheading’ text style for creating the first text element then for the second text element you are again going to use the ‘Subheading’ text style.

The text that you add on the text boxes can be different but the text style should be the same.

4. Apply Curve Effect

Once you have both of your text elements on your design, it is time to add a curve effect.

Click on the first text element and the top toolbar will appear in front of you.

Click on the ‘Effects’ button from the top toolbar and the effects menu will open on the left side.

Click on the ‘Curve’ effect from the effects menu and a curve slider will appear at the bottom.

Drag the bottom curve slider to 43.

Note: Now by following the same process apply the curve effect to the second text element as well. But this time drag the curve slider to -43.

5. Line Up Both Texts

Now you will see both curved texts on your canvas, but to create a wavy text we will have to line up both the text elements in such a manner.

While pressing the left button of your mouse, drag the first text element toward the start of the second text element.

align them in wave pattern

In short, align both text elements in such a manner that they look like wavy text.

6. Group The Elements

To make both the Text elements act like one, we are going to group all the elements.

While pressing the ‘Shift’ key on your keyboard, keep clicking on the text elements to add them to your selection.

To change the color of the text, click on the ‘Text Color’ button from the top toolbar and the color menu will open.

Note: Make sure to do all the adjustments at this step because once we move forward with saving the design on your desktop, then you won’t be able to change it later.

2. Download Your Design

Play with different font styles and font colors to create a beautiful design.

Once you get satisfied with your design, it’s time to save it to your computer.

Click on the ‘Save’ button from the top right corner of the screen and then on the ‘Download’ button.

click on share button

Then set your file type to ‘PNG’ and then click on the ‘Transparent Background’ option so that your image gets downloaded without a background.

click on download

At last, click on the ‘Download’ button to start the downloading process.

3. Reupload Your Image

Once your image gets downloaded on your desktop. Open a new tab and then again open a new design type.

After being directed to a blank canvas, click on the ‘Uploads’ button from the left sidebar and upload your previous saved image on Canva by clicking on the ‘Upload Files’ button.

reupload your image

Once your image gets uploaded on Canva, drag and drop it onto your blank canvas.

4. Revert To The Old Editor

After re-uploading the image to Canva, we have to liquify the image to make a wavy text.

But there is a catch, the liquify option is not available in the new editor, so we will first have to change it to the old editor.

Click on the image ones and then on the ‘Edit Photo’ button from the top toolbar.

The editing menu will appear on the left-hand side, scroll down the menu to click on the ‘Click Here’ button.

revert to old editor

Now you will get a pop-up on the screen, click on ‘Revert Back To Old Editor’ to proceed further.

confirm reverting to old editor

Canva will then process your design for a few seconds.

5. Apply Liquify Effect

Once your screen comes back to normal. Again, click on the ‘Edit Photo’ button from the top toolbar.

Now editing menu will open on the left side but this time it will be the old version.

click on liquify

Scroll down to click on the ‘Liquify’ button and then when the new menu opens, click on the ‘Use’ button.

click on use button

Now a variety of liquifying effects will appear in front of you, to make the text wavy click on the ‘Shake’ effect.

click on shake effect

Now the appearance of the element will change in front of you. But if you still think that the text is not enough wavy.

Then you can again click on the ‘Shake’ button to open further effect editing options.

You can now play with various editing options like ‘Thick Distort’, ‘Fine Distort’, and ‘Roll Speed’.

You can drag the slider from left to right of any of the editing options to see how your will text look.

After making all the adjustments according to need, click on the ‘Apply’ button at the end.

Note: Once you have your wavy text ready in front of you, you can start building your design by adding background, images, elements, etc.

Or if you want to use the wavy text somewhere else then you can consider saving it on your computer (refer to step 2).
