So, today I am so excited to teach you how to make a coloring book in Canva.

I wish my parents had the level of accessibility to knowledge that people have nowadays, so my childhood could have been even more interesting.

How To Make a Coloring Book In Canva

Here are the steps that you can follow to create a coloring book in Canva:

1. Open Canva Website

Firstly, you have to open Canva website.

Then to create a new Canva account, click on the ‘Sign Up’ button from the top right corner.

But if you have an existing Canva account, click on the ‘Log In’ button from the top right corner.

2. Create a Blank Canvas For Your Coloring Book

After signing up and logging into Canva, you will be directed to your Canva account dashboard.

To start a new project in Canva, click on the ‘Create a Design’ button from the top right corner of the screen.

A new menu of various design types will appear in front of you.

But as we are creating a coloring book, then A4 size will be perfect for that.

If you have a specific size requirement for creating a coloring book in Canva then you can use the custom dimesnion option and enter the dimension of your book.

Or you can also scroll through the available options and click on the one which interests you the most.

3. Add Drawings To Your Design

After being directed to the blank canvas, it is time to add thos ecute drawings to your coloring book.

Click on the ‘Elements’ button from the left sidebar and then various categories of elements will appear in front of you.

Use the top search bar to search for your desired graphic.

Note: Just make sure to search for the outline of the graphic as it is a coloring book.

I am creating a sea animal coloring book so I will be searching for the ‘Octopus Outline’ from the top search bar.

Canva will now show you various options, click on the one which you like the best to add it to your design.

Or if you do not like any of the Canva stock graphics, then you can also upload your own drawings to Canva.

Simply click on the “Upload” option form the left sidebar and locate the file in your computer and upload it to Canva.

4. Add Text To Your Design

After adding a drawing to your design, it is time to add a little text for your little one. It can be something motivating or fun.

You can even make the text dotted so that it will become colorable and your little one can run pencil through it.

Click on the ‘Text’ button from the left sidebar, and further on the ‘Add a title’ button.

Now type in anything you want and position it properly.

To make the text colorable, click on the font and change the font to “KG Primary Dot” from the top toolbar.

5. Add Decorative Elements (Optional)

As it is a children’s coloring book, we have to make sure to make it cretive and fun to color.

This is where the decorative elements come in.

Out octopus is looking really dull and lonely sitting alone on the page.

Let’s add some decorative elements.

Click on the ‘Elements’ button from the sidebar and search for elements realted to the theme of your coloring book.

As my coloring book is related to sea creatures, so i have used thee terms to find cute sea elements:

• Sea Creature Outline
• Sea Plants Outline
• Water Bubble Outline
• Toy Outline

Did you notice? whatever i am searching is followied by “Otline” keyword, cause i want my elements to be color fillable as well so that kids can enjoy coloring them too.

You can see i have placed all the elements in a creative way and all of them together is creating the entire scene.

You can do that too with your coloring book.

Note: Now follow the same step again and again to add as many decorative elements as you want.

6. Add New Page

Let’s create more pages from whatever i have learned, as it is a coloring book and single page isn;t going to work.

Click on the ‘Add Page’ button from the bottom of your current page. As a result of which a blank page will open in front of you.

To convert the blank page into a coloring page, follow the exact same procedure (step-3 to step-5).

Note: Keep adding new pages and drawings to it until you complete your coloring book.

7. Save Your Design

Once you reach the last page of the coloring book, it is time to save it on your desktop.

Click on the ‘Share’ button from the top corner of the screen, then look for the ‘Download’ button, and click on it.

As a result of which further download settings will open.

Set the file type to ‘PDF’, make sure you select all the pages, and then hit the ‘Download’ button at the end.

Violaa!! your coloring book is now downloading and ready to print and use.
