Below are the steps that you can follow to cut out an image in Canva:

1. Open Canva Website

Open your web browser and go to Canva’s website. If you don’t have a Canva account, sign up for a free account or log in if you already have one.

After signing in, you’ll be directed to your Canva homepage. Click on the “Create a design” button from the top right corner of the page and choose a canvas for your project from the given options.

You can choose from various options like posters, flyers, logos, etc. This will direct you to an empty canvas with an editor panel on the left.

3. Add An Image

There are two ways to add an image on the blank canvas in front of you.

Using Canva Stock Images

Click on the ‘Apps’ button from the left sidebar and then scroll down for the ‘Photos’ button.

It will open up the Canva stock image library.

There you will see a search bar on the top, from where you can search for your desired image.

As a result of which you will see a lot of pictures in front of you, select the one that you want and drag and drop it into the canvas.

Upload the image you want to cut out by clicking on the “Uploads” tab on the left sidebar and then the “Upload files” button.

Now select the file that you want to upload from your system and it will start uploading.

Once your image is uploaded, drag and drop it onto your canvas.

4. Click On The ‘Edit Photo’ Button

After adding your image, click on the image on your canvas to select it.

A purple boundary will appear around your image confirming that the image is now selected and a new set of options will appear on the top of the screen.

From there, click on the ‘Edit Photo’ button. This will open a new sidebar on the left side.

5. Remove The Background

From the new object panel, click on the ‘Background Remover’ or ‘BG Remover’ button. You can find this button under the subheading of ‘Tools’.

When you click on the “Background Remover” button, Canva will process the selected image for a few seconds to identify the background and its elements.

Note: ‘Background Remover’ or ‘BG Remover’ button is only available for Canva Pro users.

6. Erase/Restore Your Image (Optional)

You can now see the image with its background removed in front of your screen.

If you are still not satisfied with the results, you can make further adjustments by clicking on the ‘BG Remover’ button again.

Now you will be able to see additional options for “Erase” and “Restore”.

Use the “Erase” option to remove any remaining parts of the background that you want to get rid of, and use “Restore” to bring back any parts of the original image that were mistakenly removed.

7. Preview Your Image

After the background removal process, Canva will display a preview of the image with the background removed, allowing you to see the results.
