Step 1: Create a Blank Canvas Inside Canva

The first step is to create a blank canvas inside canva where we can start working.

To do this, just head over to canva.com and sign in to your account and click on the “Create a Design” button from the top right corner, and then select the artboard size according to your needs.

You can also choose Custom Size if you want to enter custom dimensions for your canvas.

Step 2: Add a Text Box/Layer In Canva

The second step is to add your text on your canva document which you want to curve out.

To do this just click on the text icon from the left sidebar and choose the text size of your need.

Now you can enter your text in the text box, for this tutorial purpose I am writing “Curve Text Tutorial” inside my text box.

Step 3: Add Curve Effect

So to add a curve effect to your text layer, you have to first select the text layer that you want to curve. You can do this by clicking on it with your mouse.

As soon as you click the text layer you will see a blue box around it, indicating that it is now selected.

Once you have the layer selected and the blue box appears around it, click on “Effects” from the top menu.

When you click on the effects button, you will see a new sidebar on the left side with various options to select from.

We have to ignore all of them and select the curve options under the shape section.

As soon as you click on a curve, you will see that your text will automatically get a curved shape.

Step 4: Adjust The Curve Settings

So after getting the curved text you can play with the curve settings from the left sidebar to adjust the curve amount.

Just drag the curve bar left and right until you are satisfied with the curve.

Step 5: Adjust The Letter Spacing (Optional)

If for some reason your curve text is not coming out nicely you can try playing with the letter spacing.

Just select the text box and click on the mini Spacing icon from the top toolbar and adjust the “Letter Spacing”.

This is completely optional but in some cases, it can be really helpful.

So here is the good news, you can achieve the curved text effect in canva even using your mobile phone.

You can either do this using canva mobile app or with your mobile web browser, either way, will work.

Step 1: Log in to Your Canva Account In Your Mobile

The first step is similar to the desktop which is to log in with your canva account in your mobile.

You can either do this in your phone’s browser or you can also use canva app.

Step 2: Load Your Design Or Create a Blank Canvas By Pressing + Button

Once you are logged in to your canva account, you can now choose the design where you want to make the curvy text or you can simply create a blank canvas by clicking on the “+” circle button from the bottom.

Step 3: Apply The Curve Effect

Now when your design is open, just tap on the text layer to bring up the bottom menu and then select “Effects” from there.

Now after that, tap on the “Shape” option and then tap on “Curve”.

Now you will see that the curve effect is automatically applied to your text layer.

You can tap on the mini-setting icon on the curve button and adjust the slider to play with the curve effect.

Adding Multiple Curved Text In Canva

It’s very easy. You can have multiple text layers in canva and each text layer can have a different curve.

For example, you can put 2 text layers on a circle shape and both the text layer can have opposite curves.

All you have to do is duplicate the text layer and then curve each of them differently.

You can also change the color, size or font of each text for more variation.

How To Wave Text In Canva (Using Curve !)

To make a wave text inside canva you need to have two text layers with opposite curve settings. You have to place both the layers one after the other and apply different curve settings on each of them.

For eg., you can put a +35 curve value in the first text layer and -35 in the second text layer, and then you can properly place them to achieve the wave effect.
