How To Speed Up Video In Canva (Step By Step)

Below are the steps to speed up the video in Canva:

1. Open Your Video Design

Look for the ‘Recent Designs’ section on the Canva homepage. This section usually contains all the designs on which you have worked in the past.

Click on the thumbnail of the design whose speed you want to increase. And the design will open in the Canva editor.

2. Speed Up Your Video

After opening up your design in the Canva editor, click on the video whose speed you want to increase, and a top toolbar will appear in front of you.

Click on the ‘Playback’ button from the top toolbar to get access to the new menu on the left-hand side.

You will see a “Video Speed” slider on the left side along with some extra settings.

So, drag the video speed slider towards the right-hand side to increase the speed of the video.

Or you can simply enter your desired speed value on the box opposite the ‘Video Speed’ slider.

Although the maximum number of video speed values can be set up to 2.

How To Speed Up Video Using Ezgif

The only limitation of Canva is that it does not allow you to increase the speed of video after 2x.

But what if you want to make a high-speed video?

Don’t worry, you can use Ezgif.com. It is a free online platform from where you can easily increase the speed of the video in just a few clicks.

But firstly, we have to set the video as the background and then save your design on your computer from Canva.

So, keep reading.

1. Set Your Video As Background

Create a design type from your Canva homepage to get redirected to a blank Canvas.

Now if you want to upload your own video to Canva, then click on the ‘Uploads’ button from the left sidebar and then on the ‘Upload Files’ button to select a video from your computer.

When the video is successfully uploaded in Canva, it will be visible under your upload library.

Drag and drop the video on your canvas.

Or if you want to use one of Canva’s stock videos then click on the ‘Apps’ button from the left sidebar and scroll down to click on the ‘Videos’ button.

Now Canva library of stock videos will open in front of you. Either search for your desired from the top search or scroll through the available options.

When you find a video that you like, click on it to add it to your canvas.

Once you have your video on the design, right-click on it to get access to a new menu.

From the new menu, click on the ‘Set Video As Background’ button.

Now your video will act as a background for your design.

2. Download Your Video

After setting your video as a background, click on the ‘Share’ button from the top right corner of the screen and then on the ‘Download’ button.

From the download setting, set your file type to ‘MP4 Video’ and then click on ‘Download’ at the end.

3. Change Video Speed On EZGIF

Go to EZGIF and then click on the ‘Choose File’ button to upload the previously saved video from your computer.

Or simply drag and drop the video to the EZGIF site and then click on the ‘Upload Video’ button.

Now firstly, remove the existing speed value on the ‘Multiplier’ box by clicking on the ‘Backspace’ key from your keyboard.

And then enter your desired speed value in the ‘Multiplier’ box.

Note: For this tutorial, I will enter 4 in the ‘Multiplier’ box.

Now it is compulsory to tick one of the ‘Sound Options’ checkboxes.

You will see three sound options in front of you such as mute sound, keep the original sound, and change the speed of sound.

For example, I want my video to have no sound, so I will tick the ‘Mute Sound’ checkbox.

But you can tick any checkbox, and then click on the ‘Change Video Speed’ button at the end.

Now scroll down the existing page to get a preview of your output video.

Preview your video by clicking on the ‘Play’ button and then click on the ‘Save’ button from the bottom right corner of the screen to save your output video to your computer.

4. Reupload The Video On Canva

Revert back to your Canva design, and then click on the ‘Add Page’ button or ‘+’ icon from the bottom of the screen.

Now a blank new page will appear in front of you, Reupload your previously saved video from EZGIF by clicking on the ‘Uploads’ button from the left sidebar and then follow the further process (as mentioned above).

Once you have your re-uploaded video on your canvas.

Again, right-click on the video and then on the ‘Set Video As Background’ button.

Now you have your video with increased speed inside Canva and you can further edit your video in Canva, you can trim your video clips, add transitions between them, add audio to the video, add audio texts, and whatnot.
