Let me walk you through exactly how to create an Etsy banner in Canva, starting from scratch.

How to Create an Etsy Banner in Canva

Here are the steps you can follow to learn how to create an Etsy banner in Canva:

1. Create a Blank Canvas (With Etsy Dimensions)

Go to the Canva website.

After logging in or signing up to Canva, you will be directed to the Canva homepage.

Click on the ‘Create a Design’ button from the top right corner of the screen and then on the ‘Custom Size’ button from the left bottom of the new menu.

Now it is time to enter the dimensions (width and height) for your Etsy banner (landscape).

You can create Etsy banners in 2 ways:

The Large Banner for 3360 x 840 pixels.

And a Small Banner For 1200 x 300 pixels.

Then click on the ‘Create New Design’ button at the end to get directed to the blank canvas.

2. Add a Background

Once you have a blank canvas in front of you, it is time to add a background to your design.

Click on the ‘Apps’ button from the left sidebar and then scroll down to click on the ‘Background’ button.

Then browse through the available background categories such as colors, landscapes, patterns, gradients, abstracts, etc.

Once you found a background that you like the most, click on it to add it to your design.

You can also use solid colors or even images as background, it all depends upon your creativity.

3. Add Shop Title & Tagline

When you are done with the background, now it is time to add your shop’s title and tagline.

Click on the ‘Text’ button from the left sidebar to open the text menu.

Then click on the ‘Add a Heading’ text style to add it to your design and then type in your shop’s title.

Then click on the ‘Add a Subheading’ text style and type in your shop’s tagline.

If you want to get more creative then you can also use different ‘Font Combinations’ from the text menu to create a stunning shop title and tagline.

Note: after adding your text to your design, you can then customize its appearance using the top toolbar.

4. Add Social Media & Website

It is very important to add social media handles and websites to your design for your potential customers to contact you.

Click on the ‘Text’ button again from the left sidebar.

Click on the ‘Add A Little Bit Of The Body Text’ text style and type in your social media and website information.

Then drag the text element to its respective position.

Note: follow the same process again and again to add as many social media handles as you want.

5. Add Images

After you have typed and positioned all your text elements, it is time to add images to your design.

You can use any image that showcases your brand or display your products the best.

One option is to use Canva’s extensive library of stock photos. Click on the ‘Apps’ button from the left sidebar and then scroll down to click on the ‘Photos’ button.

Now scroll through the available photos or use the top search bar to search for your specific photo and then click on it to add it to your design.

Or if you want to upload your own photo then click on the ‘Uploads’ button from the left sidebar and then on the ‘Upload Files’ button.

Now Canva will ask you to select the file from your computer. Once the image is uploaded, it will be shown under the upload library.

Drag and drop the uploaded image onto your design.

Once you have your desired photo in your design, drag the corner circle of the boundary box outward or inward to make your photo bigger or smaller in size.

And then drag the photo to its place.

Note: follow the same process to add as many photos as you want on your design.

6. Add Decorative Elements

Now it is time to add decorative elements to your design to make it more visually appealing.

Click on the ‘Elements’ button from the left sidebar and then browse through different elements categories such as stickers, shapes, graphics, lines, etc.

Or use the top search bar to search for your desired element and then click on it to add it to your design.

Once you have your element on your design, drag it into its respective place.

Then click on the ‘Elements’ button again to add more decorative elements to your design.

Note: you can also search for social media icons and then position them near your social media handles.

7. Download Your Banner

Once you get satisfied with the Etsy banner in front of you, it is time to download your banner to your computer.

Click on the ‘Share’ button from the top right corner of the screen and then on the ‘Download’ button from the new menu.

As a result of which download settings will open in front of you. Set your file type to PNG or JPG and hit on the ‘Download’ button again at the bottom.
