Follow the steps to know how to select multiple elements in Canva:

1. Open a Design

Visit the Canva website.

And then log in or sign up to get directed to the Canva homepage.

Either open a past design from the ‘Recent Designs’ section on the Canva homepage.

open a design type

Or you can choose from Canva’s library of templates. To open Canva premade templates, type in your desired design type in the text box located in the middle of the Canva homepage.

Once you have your desired design opened in front of you, you can proceed further to select multiple elements of the design.

2. Select Multiple Elements

Selecting multiple elements in Canva helps to resize, and reposition all elements at once making the designing process easier.

So there are a total of 4 ways to select multiple elements in Canva. Let’s have a look:

a) Shift Key Method

This method works best on designs that are heavily cluttered with so many elements. This method allows you to add each element personally to the selection.

Click on the first element on your design that you want to select and a boundary box will appear around it.

Then while pressing the ‘Shift’ key on your keyboard, keep clicking on additional elements that you want to select.

The same purple box will appear around those elements indicating that they are added to the selection.

Now you can move, resize, copy, and paste all the selected elements as one.

b) Dragging Cursor Method

This is the easiest method to select multiple elements on Canva.

While holding the left button of the mouse, drag your cursor over the elements that you want to select.

When you start dragging the cursor over multiple elements, a selection box will get created.

Once you are done selecting elements, release the left button of your mouse. Now you will see that the selected elements will be highlighted with purple boxes.

Note: No doubt that this method is the easiest but it selects everything inside the selection box. As a result of which many unwanted elements may also get selected.

c) Layer Selection Method

After canva has introduced the layering system, this is the best method to select multiple elements.

All you have to do is click on the “Position” option from the top toolbar and then switch to the “Layers” panel from the left sidebar.

There you will see all your elements in layers with a little preview image of them.

Layer Selection Method

While holding the Shift key, keep clicking on the layers that you want to select and those elements will be selected inside your Canvas.

The main benefit of this method is that you will never going to select unwanted elements in your design, you will only select the elements that you want.

d) Keyboard Shortcut Method

This method only works when you want to select each and every element of the design. If not, then you should consider using other methods.

Once you have your design opened in front of you, use the keyboard shortcut for selecting all elements of the design.

Keyboard shortcut: CMD/CTRL + A
