How To Use Canva With Cricut (Step by Step)
Follow the steps below to learn how to use Canva with Cricut:
So firstly, let’s see how you can design stuff in canva for your Cricut machine, this could be anything from stickers to logos.
1. Create a Design Type In Canva
Open the Canva website and then log in or sign up to get directed to the Canva homepage.
Then click on the ‘Create a Design’ button from the top right corner of the Canva homepage.
As a result of which you will get access to different design types.
Now you can either scroll through the available design types or use the above search bar to search for your preferred design type.
Once you find a design type that you want to work on, click on it to get directed to the Canva editor.
2. Type In Your Text
After getting directed to the Canva editor. Click on the ‘Text’ button from the left sidebar. Now you can choose to work on different text styles or font combinations.
To keep this tutorial simple, click on the ‘Add a Heading’ button and then type in your desired text.
Now to make to text even more stylish, click on the ‘Font Style’ button from the top toolbar and then search for your favorite font style from the top search bar.
Like I will be searching for the ‘Brittany’ font style.
Then click on your favorite font style to change the existing font.
If you’re not happy with the current font size of the text then you can click on the ‘Font Size’ button from the top toolbar and then type in your desired font size and then press ‘Enter’ from your keyboard.
Like I will be changing my font size to 144.
Note: If you wish to customize the text even further then you can also take advantage of other editing tools from the toolbar as well such as font color, animation, transparency, effects, etc.
Once you are done customizing your text, while pressing the left button of your mouse you can drag the text to its respective place.
Now follow the same process again to add as many text elements as you want and then customize the text from the top toolbar according to your liking.
3. Save Your Design
After creating your design, click on the ‘Share’ button from the top right corner of the screen and then on the ‘Download’ button.
Now from the download settings, set the file type to PNG and then hit the ‘Download’ button at the end.
4. Upload your image on Cricut Design Space
Go to Cricut design space and then click on the ‘Upload’ button from the bottom of the left sidebar.
Now the uploads panel will open in front of you. Click on the ‘Upload Image’ button to upload the design that you previously saved from Canva on your desktop.
Either drag and drop your image or click on the ‘Browse’ button to select an image from your computer.
Once your image is uploaded, you can then click on your desired ‘Image Type’ such as simple, complex, and moderately complex.
And then click on the ‘Continue’ button from the right bottom corner of the screen.
5. Cut The Unwanted Parts Of The Image
After uploading your image on Cricut design space, now you have to click on the parts of the design using “Select & Erase” that you want Cricut to cut out while printing.
As a result of which those unwanted parts of the image will get erased in front of you.
And then click on the ‘Continue’ button from the bottom of the screen.
Now Cricut will show you two options to choose from. Click on the ‘Save As a Cut Image’ option and then hit the ‘Save’ button at the bottom left corner of the screen.
6. Give Printing Directions
Now from the recently uploaded images section, click on the thumbnail of the design that you recently uploaded and then on the ‘Insert Image’ button from the bottom left corner of the screen.
If you are not satisfied with the size of the design, then from the ‘Size’ section on the top toolbar enter your desired dimensions.
After dragging the design to its respective place, click on the ‘Make It’ button from the top right corner of the screen.
Now it’s time to enable the ‘Mirror’ button and then click on the ‘Continue’ button at the bottom left corner of the screen.
Now choose a ‘Base Material’ from the two options, iron-on, and cardstock, and then click on it.
After setting your base material, click on the ‘Start’ button on your Cricut machine to start the cutting process.
