How To Make a Word Cloud In Canva (Step By Step)
Below are the steps that you can follow to make a word cloud in Canva:
1. Create a Design
Visit the Canva homepage and Log in or sign up with your account.
From the top right corner of the Canva homepage, click on the ‘Create a Design’ button.
As a result of which a new menu with various design types will open in front of you.
Either scroll through the available options or use the top search bar to search for your desired design.
Then, click on the design type of your liking, and you will be redirected to a blank Canvas of the dimension that you have chosen.
2. Create a Word Cloud
After getting directed to the blank canvas, click on the ‘Text’ button from the left sidebar.
Then click on the ‘Add a Heading’ button and start typing your text.
After typing your text, click on the ‘Font Style’ dropdown from the top toolbar. And then click on the font style of your liking.
To resize the text in front of you, click on the text element one and then drag the corners of the boundary box outwards or inwards to make your text bigger and smaller in size.
Once you are done working on one text element, click on any default text style or a font combination in front of you and type in your second text.
Now click on the ‘Text Color’ button from the top toolbar and then choose a color from the default colors or use the color picker slider to create a new one.
Once you find a color that you like, click on it to add it to your text element.
After changing the color of your text, you can also resize and change the font style of the text as explained above.
If you want to rotate the text to get more creative. Then click on the text ones and then drag the ‘Rotation’ handle in any direction.
As you drag the rotation handle, you’ll see the text rotating in front of you. Release the handle when you’ve your text on the desired angle.
After customizing the text according to your need, drag the text to its respective position.
Once you have the second text element also positioned in the design, let’s move to add the third text element.
Again click on the ‘Text’ button from the left sidebar. And this time we will click on an eye-catching font combination to add it to your design.
Now press on the ‘Backspace’ key from your keyboard to remove the existing text and then start typing your desired text.
And then again drag this third text element to its respective position.
Do you know the power of effects in Canva?
let’s teach you about the text effects in your fourth text element.
Firstly, from the ‘Text’ section, click on the ‘Add A Subheading’ text style and then write your desired keyword.
Once you have your fourth text element on the design, click on the ‘Effects’ button from the top toolbar.
There you will see a variety of text effects that you can apply to your text.
Here, I’ll be using the Curved text effect for demonstration purposes.
I will choose “Curve” from the left sidebar and as a result of which, you will see the fourth text fully curved on your design.
But if you want your text to be a little less curved, then drag the ‘Curve’ slider towards the left-hand side.
As usual, click on the text ones, drag the corners of the boundary box inwards or outwards to resize your text then drag it to its respective place.
Now you know all the tips and tricks to customize your text efficiently to make a nice word cloud, like I have (refer to the screenshot below).
3. Save Your Design
After creating a word cloud, you can then proceed to save your design on your computer.
To do that, click on the ‘Share’ button from the top right corner of the screen and then on the ‘Download’ button from the new menu.
