So you are looking to create a strikethrough text in Canva but then realized canva does not have a direct option to do that.

As a Canva user, I know how frustrating it can be when you want to neatly cross out texts but can’t seem to figure it out.

In this quick tutorial, I’ll show you a step-by-step process of crossing out or strikethrough text in Canva design with just a few clicks.

It’s perfect for neatly crossing out mistakes, outdated info, and anything else you want to indicate should be ignored.

How To Strikethrough In Canva (Step By Step !)

Follow the steps to learn how to strikethrough the text in Canva:

1. Open a Design

Go to the Canva website and log in or sign up to get access to the Canva homepage.

Then look for the ‘Recent Designs’ section on the Canva homepage. This section contains all the designs that you have worked on in the past.

Click on the thumbnail of the design on which you want to strikethrough or cross out text in Canva.

Now, the design will open in the Canva editor.

2. Create a Strikethrough Text Effect

Below are two ways to strike through the text in Canva:

a) Insert Line Element

After getting directed to the Canva editor, click on the ‘Elements’ button from the left sidebar. A new menu with various elements and categories will open in front of you.

From the top search bar, search for the ‘Line’ and then click on it to add it to your design.

Once you have your line on your design, drag it over the text element that you want to strikethrough.

To get a thicker strikethrough, click on the ‘Line Style’ button from the top toolbar and then drag the ‘Line Weight’ slider towards the right-hand side.

As you drag the slider, you will see the line getting thicker in front of you.

A thicker line will give a more stunning strikethrough effect.

If you want to round the endpoints of your line, then you can also enable the ‘Rounded End Points’ button.

From the same menu, you can also change the appearance of the line. You get three line styles on the top of the new menu.

Click on the ‘Line Style’ of your liking to change the appearance of your line to a dotted one.

To change the color of your existing strikethrough, click on the line, and then from the top toolbar click on the ‘Line Color’ button.

Now colors menu will open on the left-hand side, if you are not satisfied with the default colors then use the color picker slider to create a new color.

Once you find a color that catches your eye, click on it to change the existing color of your line.

After customizing the text according to your needs, it is time to group the elements.

While pressing the ‘Shift’ key on your keyboard, click on both elements (line and text) to add them to the selection.

Once the elements are selected, you will notice a boundary box around them with a few options at the top.

Click on the ‘Group’ button from the top of the boundary box. Now both your elements will get combined and you can then move, edit, resize, etc them as one.

Or you can also use the keyboard shortcut for grouping text: Ctrl + G.

Note: If your design does not have a text element, then click on the ‘Text’ button from the left sidebar. Then click on a default text style or font combination and start typing your desired text.

b) Use Strikethrough Text Generator

Go to strikethrough text generator.

In the top empty box, type in the text that you want to strikethrough or cross out.

As a result of which strikethrough text will automatically be generated in the bottom box. Then click on the ‘Copy To Clipboard’ button to copy the text.

Then go back to your design and click on the ‘Text’ button from the left sidebar and then click on a default text style to add it to your design.

Now click on the ‘Backspace’ key from your keyboard to remove the existing text and then press Ctrl + V from your keyboard to paste the copied text.

After pasting the strikethrough text, it is time to resize the text.

Click on the text ones, and then on the ‘Font Size’ button from the top toolbar.

Now enter your specific font size and then drag and position the resized text according to your liking.

3. Save Your Design

If you want to save the strikethrough text on your desktop, then from the top right corner of the screen, click on the ‘Share’ button.

Then click on the ‘Download’ button from the new menu to open the download settings.

Then set your file type to your desired format and click on the ‘Download’ button again at the end.
