How To Fill Letters With Pictures in Canva
Below is the step-by-step guide on how to fill letters with pictures in Canva:
1. Create a New Design
From the Canva homepage, click on the ‘Create a Design’ button from the top right corner of the screen.
A new menu with various design types will appear in front of you like, documents, banners, email signatures, etc.
Use the top search bar to search for your desired design type or scroll down the available options.
Click on the design type, you like the most to get directed to the blank canvas.
Note: for this tutorial, it does not matter what design type you choose because you can fill pictures in letters in any design.
2. Add Letter Frames
Once you get directed to a blank canvas, click on the ‘Elements’ button from the left sidebar, and then from the top toolbar search for ‘Letter Frames’.
Then click on the ‘See All’ button opposite to frames section to get access to all letter frames in front of you.
After getting access to all letter frames, drag the letter frames to the canvas one by one to form a word.
For eg. here I have created a SHARE word so I have added these letter frames: S, H, A, R, E
You can do this for any word you want.
Just make sure you align them perfectly, you can use the alignment options from the “Position” tab on the top toolbar.
3. Fill Letters With Pictures
Once you have your letter frames aligned properly in your design, it is time to add pictures to them.
If you want to use Canva’s stock photo library then click on the ‘Apps’ button and then scroll down to click on the ‘Photos’ button.
Now you can browse through the available photos or use the search bar to find specific photos.
For example, I am searching for a ‘nature’ picture from Canva stock photos.
Once you found a photo that you like, drag and drop it onto the respective letter frame.
Or if you want to upload your own image to fill the letters, click on the ‘Uploads’ button and then on the ‘Upload Files’ button to upload your image from your computer.
Once your image is uploaded, drag and drop it onto the letter frame.
Note: follow the same procedure to fill all the letter frames with pictures in front of you.
4. Adjust Your Picture
Once you have your pictures in their respective letter frames, it is time to adjust the picture according to your liking so that it fits perfectly.
To adjust your picture, double-click on the picture, and then by pressing the left button of your mouse drag the picture right or left inside the frame.
You can drag the image left or right until the part of the photo that you want to appear in the frame is in front of you. Then release the lift button of your mouse to finalize the adjustment.
5. Download Your Design
Once you’re satisfied with how the letters look with pictures filled into them and when you’re ready to download, click on the ‘Share’ button from the top right corner of the screen.
A new menu will appear on the right-hand side, click on the ‘Download’ button. Now set your file type to PNG and click on the ‘Download’ button again at the last.
Canva will then start preparing your design for downloading.
