How to Cancel an Order On Etsy [For Buyers]

There can be 2 scenarios for buyers who would like to cancel an Etsy order:

One is If you already have an Etsy account and the second is If you made your purchase as a guest and do not have any Etsy account.

Well, we will cover both scenarios one by one.

How To Cancel An Etsy Order With An Account

If you’re a buyer having an account on Etsy who needs to cancel an order, you can do that either before or after the order is marked as shipped.

However, it’s always best to cancel an order before it ships to avoid any issues. If you need to cancel an order after it has shipped, you can still do so, but you will need to contact the seller and request a return.

And it totally depends on the seller whether they accept your request or not. If a seller accepts your return request, then you will be able to process the return through Etsy and get a refund for your purchase.

If the order is not shipped yet, you can easily request order cancellation by yourself using these steps:

Step 2: Click on your profile avatar from the top right corner of the Home page.

Step 3: Select “Purchases and Reviews” from the drop-down list and you will be taken to a page that displays all of your recent orders.

Step 4: Find the order you want to cancel and click on the “Request Cancellation” link just below the “Not Shipped” status.

Step 5: On the next page, you will see an auto-generated message to the seller, you can edit that and add your own reasons for the order cancellation and click the “Submit” button and wait for the seller’s reply.

Cancel An Order After Shipping

If the order is already shipped then you need to contact the seller to request a return. You can do that by following these steps:

Step 1: First, go to www.etsy.com and log in to your Etsy account.

Step 2: Click your avatar from the top right corner of the Home page.
