What Is An Instagram Puzzle Feed
Instagram puzzle feed is a creative way of arranging your Instagram posts in a specific pattern, such as breaking a single photo into multiple pieces and then posting each piece separately.
These pieces, when viewed together on your profile, make up a larger, more impactful image.
The overall effect is visually appealing and can encourage engagement from your followers, as they’ll want to see the full image and follow along as you post each piece.
Puzzle feeds can be used to tell a story, showcase a product or service, or simply to create a unique and eye-catching aesthetic on your Instagram profile.
How To Create Instagram Puzzle Feed In Canva
I know, till now you are fully convinced that you want to have a puzzle feed on your Instagram account so for you my friend, below I have written a step-by-step guide on how to create an Instagram puzzle feed in Canva.
1. Go To Canva
So obviously we are going to use canva to create our puzzle feed for Instagram.
And the first step in order to create a puzzle feed template inside canva is to visit canva.com and login with your account by entering you email and password.
2. Create a Blank Canvas With 3240 X 3240 px
Once you are successfully logged in, click on the “Create a Design” button from the right corner and select “Custom Size” and enter 3240 X 3240 Px as width and height.
Why 3240 X 3240 Px?
As you can see in the image below, a normal Instagram post is around 1080 Px in width and 1080 Px in height.
Now in order to create a 3×3, 9 posts puzzle feed we have to create a single template, that single template will contain a total of 9 posts with 3 posts in each row and 3 posts in each column.
So for that reason, we have chosen 3240 x 3240 Px because 1080 x 3 Posts = 3240 Px width of the single template and similarly for height also.
3. Add Dotted Lines Spaced Equally
Now we have to add some dotted lines in order to divide this single template in 3×3 table form.
These lines are just for reference purpose so that we can see how the 9 posts are going to look, we will remove these lines later before exporting our template.
In order to add lines, just click on the elements section from the left sidebar and then search for “Lines”.
Add the lines to the canvas and create a 3×3 row and columns as can be seen in the image below.
Make sure the lines are equally spaced out, you can use the “Position” feature from the top bar to equally space the lines.
After putting all the lines on the template, you now have a basic layout for a 3×3 Instagram puzzle feed template. Now lock all the line layers by selecting them and clicking on the lock icon so that they won’t disturb you while doing the actual design.
4. Design Your Puzzle Template
Now when you have successfully placed the lines, you can now start designing your Instagram puzzle template by using elements, text, images, etc.
You can take reference from the lines and have an idea what every single post will look like.
As you can see in the image below, I have finished designing my template (3240 x 3240Px) and that’s what it look like.
You can also see the dotted lines which we added in the previous step, I have grouped the lines together and reduced their opacity so that they won’t disturb me while designing the template.
5. Remove The Dotted Lines & Export
Now when you are done with the design, you can now remove the dotted lines as we no longer need them and after removing the lines you can export the template as PNG (For better quality).
In order to export the template, click on the “Share” button from the top right screen and select the File Type as PNG and then hit the “Download” button.
6. Split Your Puzzle Template Into 9 Posts
Now we have the single standalone Instagram puzzle feed template in PNG format.
In order to get the puzzle feed look we have to equally split this template into 9 different posts of 1080 x 1080 Px as i told you earlier.
To do that we will use a free tool known as Instagram Grid Maker by The Social Boutique.
Just visit the link above and upload the image that we have downloaded from canva.
Now select columns as 3 cause we want to make a 3 x 3 puzzle feed, select image cut as “Grid”, and click on “Split Image“
Wait for few seconds and now you will see all your splitter parts on the right side with a download button with every splitted piece.
Now just download the image pieces one by one and upload them on your Instagram.
So that’s how you can create a puzzle feed for your Instagram account.
