I feel your pain. There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to get a circle to look just right when you’re designing graphics or social media posts.

But don’t worry, I’ve got your back!

Making round images is super easy once you know the exact method.

In this quick tutorial, I’ll walk you through step-by-step how to make a picture round in Canva in just a few clicks.

So let’s get started and make those pesky pictures round faster than you can say “Canva!”

Follow the below steps to make a picture round in Canva:

1. Visit Canva Website

Go to Canva’s website.

If you already have an account, click on the ‘Log In’ button at the top right corner of the page. Enter your email and password to log in.

If you don’t have an account, then click on the ‘Sign Up’ button at the top right corner to create a new account.

2. Open a Blank Canvas

After logging in or signing up on Canva, you will be directed to the Canva homepage.

From the Canva homepage, click on the ‘Create a Design’ button located at the top right corner of the screen, and a new menu will appear with various design types.

Now you can scroll through a wide range of design types like posters, flyers, logos, Instagram stories, etc. Or use the top search bar to search for the design type you need.

Once you find a design type you like, click on it. As a result of which a blank canvas will appear in front of you.

Note: for this tutorial, I will be using a logo design type.

If you want specific dimensions for your design, then click on the ‘Custom Size’ button from the bottom left-side corner of the new menu.

Now, It is time to enter the dimensions (width and height) of your design as per your need and then click on the ‘Create New Design’ button. As a result of which a blank canvas will appear in front of you.

3. Add a Circular Frame

Once you have a blank canvas in front of you, click on the ‘Elements’ button from the left sidebar. A new menu of various elements categories such as shapes, stickers, graphics etc will appear in front of you.

Search for the ‘Frames’ option from the top search bar and then click on the ‘See All’ button to browse all the frames.

Click on the circular frame in front of you to add it to the canvas.

4. Add an Image

There are two methods for adding an Image on Canva:

Canva Stock Photos

If you want to add Canva stock photos to your design, click on the ‘Apps’ button from left sidebar and then scroll down to click on the ‘Photos’ button. This will open a library of Canva stock photos.

Search for your desired photo from the top search bar or scroll through the available options in front of you.

When you find the photo that suits your need, drag and drop that image onto the frame while pressing the left key on your mouse.

  • Note: You will notice that a lot of Canva stock photos contain a small gold crown icon at the bottom right corner.
    Which indicates that those photos are only available to Canva Pro users. So, if you are not able to find suitable photos from the Canva free version. Then you should consider uploading your pictures.

Upload Your Own Photo

To upload your own photos to Canva, click on the ‘Uploads’ button from the left sidebar.

Then click on the ‘Upload Files’ button and a new window will appear in front of you. Allowing you to browse your computer’s files and select the image you want to upload to Canva. Select the image file and click on the ‘Open’ button.

Once the upload is complete, the image will appear in your upload library. While pressing the left key on your mouse, drag and drop the uploaded image from the upload library onto your frame.

5. Resize And Reposition The Image

If you are not satisfied with the size and positioning of the image, you can also change it.

To resize the image, double-click on the image. As a result of which a purple box will appear around it.

While pressing the left key of your mouse, drag one of the corners of the boundary box away from the image to make it bigger.

To reposition the image, double-click on the image again. As a result of which a boundary box will appear around it.

While pressing the left key of your mouse, drag the image from left to right or top to bottom to reposition the image.

6. Download Your Image

Once you get satisfied with the design in front of you, it’s time to save the design on your desktop.

To save your design, click on the ‘Share’ button in the top right corner of your screen and then on the ‘Download’ button.

As a result of which the downloading settings will appear in front of you.

Set the file type to ‘PNG’ and tick mark the ‘Transparent Background’ option and then click on the ‘Download’ button at the end. Canva will now start preparing your image for downloading.

How Do I Apply Effects to a Round Picture in Canva?

Applying effects to a round picture in Canva is very easy. Just double-click on the image, as a result of which a new menu will appear on the left-hand side.

Click on the ‘Effects’ button from the new menu. As a result of which various effects categories will open such as ‘Fx Effects’, ‘Filters’, etc. Click on the effect you like the most to add it to your round picture.

How Do I Resize a Picture In Canva?

To resize the image in Canva, double-click on the image. As a result of which a boundary box will appear around it.

While pressing the left key of your mouse, drag one of the corners of the boundary box away from the image to make it bigger.
