What are Etsy Offsite Ads?

Offsite ads are the paid ads that Etsy runs on your behalf on third-party websites like Google, Facebook, etc.

The ads are managed by Etsy team itself so you don’t have to worry about anything.

You will pay a small percentage of your sale when someone clicks on your offsite ad and make a purchase from your shop.

The percentage depends upon a few factors and we will talk about them later in this article.

How Do Etsy Offsite Ads Work?

Offsite ads work by displaying ads of your products on third-party websites like Google, Facebook, etc.

When someone clicks on the ad, they are taken to your Etsy shop where they can buy your product.

If they make a purchase, you will pay a small percentage of that sale to Etsy as advertising fees.

Why Should You Use Etsy Offsite Ads?

There are many reasons why you should use Etsy offsite ads

Some of them are:

1. Etsy Offsite Ads are managed by Etsy team itself and will provide you the best results.

2. There is no upfront fee, you only have to pay a small percentage of the sale price and that too when someone makes a purchase from your shop through offsite ad.

3. Etsy offsite ads are an excellent way to increase traffic and sales to your Etsy shop

What Are Etsy Offsite Ads Fees?

Etsy charges 15% offsite ads fee for all shops that have made less than $10,000 USD in the previous 365 days and 12% offsite ads fee for all shops that have made over $10,000 USD in the previous 365 days.

So if your shop makes over $10,000 USD in a year, you will be paying 12% of the product price for every sale you made using Offsite ads.

Remember that this fee is only for the advertising part and you will still have to pay the transaction fees and taxes that you usually pay on Etsy.

Are Etsy Offsite Ads Worth It?

Offsite ads are definitely worth it if you are looking to increase traffic and sales to your Etsy shop.

The fees are very reasonable and you only have to pay when someone makes a purchase from your shop through the offsite ad.

The advertising amount is also fixed so you will never pay more than 15% or 12% of the sale price, no matter how much Etsy is spending on advertising your products.

Should I Keep Etsy Offsite Ads? [My Personal Suggestion]

It depends upon your products and sales. If you are making a profit on every product after including the product cost, shipping fees, transaction fees, taxes and the 15% advertising fees then I suggest you keep Etsy offsite ads

But if you are not making a profit on some of the products and the advertising fees are eating your profits, then I suggest you stop using Etsy offsite ads.

Because there is no product cost and shipping fees so there is lot of margin for digital product sellers. They can easily afford offsite ads.

The Off site Ads are coming through more and more now, and this is because the actual website is now being shown as an Ad, you would not realise as the word Ad is so tiny underneath the web site link, the real Etsy link is the next link down! so are the Ads worth it? no, because its now turned into easy money for Etsy where they do not have to work hard advertising our shop items as they get the fees just by having the website as an AD, really awful and very crafty!!
